THAT’S LIFE UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Posted on: October 17, 2011

You ever happen upon an ‘Under Construction’ website?

(The answer would be ‘yes’ if you’re here.)

Frustrating, isn’t it?

Know what’s even MORE frustrating?

Having the website that you’ve been building and nurturing for

TWO YEARS

go

POOF!

UP

IN

SMOKE.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!

GONE.

JUST.

FUCKING.

GONE.

Let’s say it together, boys and girls:

EPIC.

FUCKING.

FAIL.

I have been working very hard on building my writing platform.  Just last week, once my UNDER-CONSTRUCTION LIFE settled for — ahh! just a moment —  I bought the http://snickerfodder.com domain for $25 a year.  (It’s MINE.  ALL MINE.  Long as I keep coughin’ up the annual $25, that is.  Thanks, WordPress!  Could’a gotten it from godaddy for $9.99, but it’s SO much more convenient through the WonderFuck system!)

TWO YEARS!

ALL THAT WORK FOR NOTHING!

Hey, WordPress, you premiere blogging platform!

Know what would be a GREAT idea?

A cute, little button

— just like the one on your publishing page —

that allows the writer to

PREVIEW

how her site WOULD look with a brand new theme, if she so chose to install it.

Unfortunately,

the minute you TRY ON a different theme,

it’s automatically YOUR NEW THEME.

I WANT to blame WordPress, but really,

the blame falls upon The Viv because she’s

 too STUPID

to understand all there is to know about internet publishing.

Luckily, my posts are still on the site (and, as they are such phenomenal examples of fine writing, I’d hate to lose such quality material).

NOW, the only way to go is to

 start from scratch…

AGAIN.

Damn, why didn’t I major in code?

Ohmygod I had this happen to me the other day! Even MySpace came with that damn preview button I’m sure!!! (I may be wrong but right now I am sure I’m right).

Oh, your poor thing, hookeymonster! Well, welcome to the Thoroughly-Screwed Club, toots! It sure feels good to have some company in my sinking boat. 😉 Didn’t you just feel as if the rug had been yanked from under you when you saw your ‘new’ theme?! Grrrrrr!

Were your posts saved, at least? I sure hope so.

This whole blogging thing has been a huge learning curve for me (a self-confessed technotard), and I fumbled and blundered my way through setting up each of my widgets and plug-ins, blood, sweat ‘n tears, and I remember how to do NONE of it! I watch those dagum videos of “Inserting a plugin on your blog”, wherein they make it look and sound so easy! I mean, the demonstration is geared for an audience of primates; clearly, I’m dumber’n THAT!

Plus, I’m too damn cheap (and stubborn) to PAY someone to do it for me.

Thanks for your comment, luv! Hope you get your blog straightened out right quick and PAIN-FREE!

I totally agree about having a preview button. Good luck with the rebuild!

Thanks, Mr. Pete!

Honestly, I’ve been too busy to go to town on it. It’s gonna be a bear, I know.

Thanks for the comment and for stopping by!

The world needs more ‘fodder’….(and so does your little bro Nibby). Get back to work slack-ass.

Just read your post on Toby chumming the Trooper and the Great Mailbox Debacle – never heard that story before – I could so picture you in this mess.

Love you kiddo! Hugs/Kisses to the M’s from me.
